By LT Shredder,
Six months gone, and God knows how many miles God knows how long I spent on the scope I saw things and thought thoughts that I hadn’t before Did it change me? I’m not sure if I know: I feel like there should be something there That days like this should define my life But all that’s in me now that wasn’t before Is a hole shaped like six months All those places: Yoko, Sasebo, Guam, Guam again And also the places I can’t write about Things that I learned and things I forgot People I met and people who left 3 AM wakeups (or 2:45) Watch, meals, meetings, training, paperwork The sway of the sea as I laid in my rack All gone astern, past CPA And all I can do is wonder what’s next Five days and fifty miles to San Diego I still can't see it.
Alternatively stated: Deployment is 97% over, but we still have to do ORSE and I am sad about it.
LT Shredder has been ORSE free for 35 months.
