ERR Team Celebrates ADM Rickover’s 123rd Birthday By Assigning 123 Corrective Actions

Pearl Harbor — CAPT Brain Mackelroy, the head member of CSS 7 ERR team currently embarked aboard USS Apra Harbor, rang in ADM Rickover's 123rd birthday by assigning the boat 123 corrective actions.

“What a fun way to celebrate,” Mackelroy said.

Mackelroy is well known throughout the nuclear community for his ability to make the multiple day ORSE workup enjoyable for crews and skippers alike. In honor of the Father of the Nuclear Navy’s 122nd birthday last year he assigned the reactor laboratory division aboard the USS San Bernardino 122 items that required further resolution.

For the anniversary of the 81st attack on Pearl Harbor he ran 81 consecutive faulted recovery drills.

“I really outdid myself there,” said Mackelroy, grinning with pride.

The corrective actions onboard the USS Apra Harbor range from increasing the indelibility of diesel fuel and the inviolacy of maneuvering to more festive items such as mandating an inventory of light bulbs by descending serial number.

For an extra bit of birthday fun Mackelroy directed USS Apra Harbor only have 123 hours to correct all the issues in order to avoid a BAM on their next ORSE.
