Dear Subpar Group - I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend
Here’s what it taught me about maintaining an AA Audit and Surveillance Program
Dear Subpar Group,
I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend. Here’s what it taught me about maintaining an Above Average Audit and Surveillance Program:
Scheduling: Not every evolution requires a junior and senior monitor. Identifying the right number of monitors takes time. You can’t be afraid to say “No, EDMC” to find the monitor who will simply blaze the evaluation form.
Check in with your support system: Just like taking your girlfriend home to meet your parents to get their approval, you must check in with your chief to get their approval before conducting any monitors.
Never go to the rack angry: If you’re pissed off at EMN2 for not doing proper IVVs during the monitored evolution you need to settle it before your 10 hours in the rack.
Getting yelled at by the XO: You will get yelled at and told that you’re “fucking the boat” by not doing enough motor control clean and inspects and thats ok. What is important is that the CO likes your A&S, so mostly just ignore whatever XO tells you unless it is directly from the CO.
ORSE: If you’ve done your work earlier in the relationship, when it comes time to ORSE, you’ll have nothing to worry about. Give the SBM your binder, touch your knee, and get ready to brag to the other JOs that you got the highest record review score.
Reminder: After ORSE is done, there is still a lot of work left to do. The journey continues with planning and constant communications to ensure the next binder review during ORSE is completed SAT.
